Police arrested a man and a woman Sunday afternoon in Arden Arcade in connection with an armed robbery in North Sacramento.

A U.S. Bank in a Safeway at 2851 Del Paso Road. was robbed at gunpoint shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, said Sacramento police Officer Matt McPhail.

A tracker in the money led officers to the 1200 block of Clinton Road near Hurley Way, said Sgt. Andrew Pettit. Police cordoned off parts of Hurley and Clinton while they worked on getting the suspects out of a house. Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies assisted Sacramento police with the search.

Officers fired beanbag rounds to knock out a security camera and to break a window as part of their entry into the house, Pettit said.

Pettit said the suspects had three pit bulls inside the house. When police entered with a K-9 officer, the dogs got into a fight. One officer was bitten in an attempt to end the fight, Pettit said.

Editor’s note: This story was changed July 11 to correct the address of the U.S. Bank.
