A missing person report to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office has turned into a suspicious death investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was called about 10:15 p.m. Monday to respond to Relief Hill Road and Gaston Grade for a possible search and rescue for an unidentified man. Family members had called a fire department after the man had not been seen for several days.
When deputies got to the 30000 block of Relief Hill Road, northeast of Nevada City, they found the man was dead – and that his death was of a suspicious nature, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. Sheriff’s detectives from the major crime unit took over the investigation.
In addition, investigators from the state Department of Justice Bureau of Forensic Services were assisting.
