An unidentified 41-year-old male Sacramento County Main Jail inmate died Sunday evening after being found unconscious in his cell, officials said.
The inmate was arrested Friday on charges of drug possession and sales, destroying evidence, resisting arrest and violation of probation, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Deputies found the man in his cell a little before 6 p.m. Sunday, unresponsive and unconscious, according to the news release. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was later pronounced dead, the department said.
No signs of trauma or foul play were evident, the sheriff’s department said.

The county Coroner’s Office will determine a cause of death. The identity of the man will be disclosed once his family has been notified, according to the news release.
