Sacramento Fire Department boat crews have recovered a body from the Sacramento River, upstream from the Interstate 5 bridge.

Crews responded shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday to the 7000 block of Garden Highway. Chris Harvey, Fire Department spokesman, said the body was spotted by boaters in the area. Access to the area was difficult, and the body was tangled in branches near a tree stump, he said.

The body has been turned over to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. No information was available the regarding the individual’s gender or age, or how long the person had been in the river.
