A motorcyclist who suffered fatal injuries late Tuesday when he was knocked off his vehicle in a crash on Interstate 5 has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 51-year-old Brian Keith Foster of Rancho Cordova.
Foster was riding his Harley-Davidson was northbound on I-5 north of Hood Franklin Road in the fast lane at a high rate of speed at about 11:45 p.m. when he was involved in a traffic collision, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Foster was ejected, coming to rest in the fast lane. At that time, a big-rig driver was approaching the scene in the lane next to the fast lane at 55 mph.
When the big-rig driver saw something in the roadway ahead, he hit his brakes hard, according to a CHP news release. At the same time he turned toward the fast lane, where he hit the motorcyclist.
