Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District arson investigators need help identifying two people who may have had something to do with a fire at a fast-food restaurant.

The man and woman were at a Del Taco restaurant at 2525 Watt Ave. on Saturday night just before closing time when they ordered food, then asked the manager to open the locked men’s restroom.

When the man left the men’s restroom, the couple picked up their food. As they were about to walk out the door, the man said, “Your bathroom is on fire,” according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Capt. Michelle Eidam.

Employees quickly went into the men’s restroom and extinguished the blaze, limiting damage to $500.

“Investigators determined it was arson,” Eidam said. “They are interested in identifying both the man and the woman.”
