A drive-by shooting of a parked car Wednesday night in the south area of Sacramento left a man dead and three other people wounded.

Colin Jamal Elder, 20, of Sacramento died when the car he was in was shot up shortly before 10 p.m. in the 4000 block of Green Tree Drive near Florin Road and Franklin Boulevard.

When Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived, they found that three of the shooting victims, including Elder, were still in the vehicle. Elder suffered gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

A 24-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body, and a 20-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. A woman, who suffered a gunshot wound to her leg, was able to get to a nearby home after she was shot.

Investigators believe the four were seated in the parked car when another vehicle with an unknown number of occupants opened fire. The motive for the shooting is not known, sheriff’s officials said.
