A woman died from injuries she suffered Monday morning when her car traveled into oncoming traffic on Highway 65 in Placer County. The driver of another vehicle suffered major injuries.
The motorist who was killed was driving south on Highway 65 near Wheatland about 6:15 a.m. when her car crossed over the double-yellow center line and struck a small SUV head-on, the California Highway Patrol said. She died at the scene.
After being struck, the SUV spun out of control and was hit by a pickup truck. The man driving the SUV suffered major injures and was taken by helicopter to a Roseville hospital.
The driver and a passenger in the pickup were not injured.
