A 40-year-old man died Thursday night in an officer-involved shooting after Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the Antelope area.
Lt. Jason Ramos, sheriff’s spokesman, said deputies went to a residence on Brahms Court, off Andante Drive, just east of Roseville Road, about 8:30 p.m. regarding a domestic disturbance. They spoke with the woman who had made the call. A man who was involved in the incident was not there when deputies arrived.
Ramos said the deputies had been at the residence about half an hour, when the man returned and confronted them on the street with an “edged” weapon. One of the deputies fired his gun, striking the man, who collapsed. Deputies administered CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ramos said the deputy who fired the shot is a 14-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department assigned to field operations.
