An early morning police pursuit in Sacramento County ended with a car crashing into a fence in front of a Citrus Heights home.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies said the chase began at around 3 a.m. Friday near Interstate 80 and Watt Avenue, where a Lexus sedan was pulled over for having expired license plates.

Officials said the Lexus driver suddenly drove off, with deputies in pursuit. The chase ended shortly thereafter when the Lexus veered out of control and crashed into a fence in a neighborhood near the intersection of Mercedes Avenue and Van Maren Lane.

Officials said the driver was treated for minor injuries; no one in the neighborhood was injured.

The driver has not yet been identified.
