The Sacramento Police Department on Saturday will conduct a sobriety and driver license checkpoint on 21st Street near Capitol Avenue.
Officials said it will begin at 7:30 p.m. and run for five to seven hours.
Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, and checking for valid, up-to-date driver licenses.
Penalties for conviction of driving under influence can include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
