A big rig overturned Friday afternoon near Woodland, sending its load of lumber onto Interstate 5 and snarling traffic, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. on northbound I-5 between County Road 96 and 97, according to Officer Kevin Dwyer. Initially, the accident closed all the northbound lanes, but CHP had partially opened up the freeway as of 4 p.m.
Commuters were advised toavoid the traffic by exiting at Yolo Avenue and diverting up County Road 99 west, Dwyer said.
