Two dogs died Tuesday morning in a mobile home fire in south Sacramento.

A fire at a south Sacramento mobile home killed two dogs Tuesday morning, according to Capt. Brian Gonsalves, a spokesman for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. The dog’s owners were not home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported, he said.

Crews responded to reports of a fire at a mobile home near La Reina Way and Elsie Avenue about noon, said Gonsalves, who described the fire as fully developed when crews arrived.

Firefighters were able to quickly control the blaze, and stopped it from spreading to other nearby mobile homes, Gonsalves said. Two residences on either side of the mobile home faced minimal external damage, he said.

Firefighters believe the fire started in the mobile home’s living room, Gonsalves said. The cause of the fire is under investigation by an arson team.
