A woman known for swiping wallets and purses from other shoppers in Roseville grocery stores was recently captured in the act on store security video.
Detectives know the woman’s name and are seeking her. She is pictured on store video taking the wallet on Friday out of a purse in a shopping cart of a store customer in the produce section.
She then tucks the wallet under her arm and pushes her own cart away. The woman is suspected of being a serial purse thief, hitting grocery stores throughout Roseville.
A Roseville detective has connected her to four similar thefts at two grocery stores in Roseville between February and August. The detective is also looking into whether she also is connected to a theft at a third store, said Dee Dee Gunther, Police Department spokeswoman.

The woman usually takes the victim’s wallet and then quickly goes to a nearby store to use the stolen debit or credit cards before the bank is notified of the theft.
Roseville police warn: Never take your eye off your purse if it’s on back of a restaurant chair, in a grocery cart or beside you on the floor.
