An inmate faces a charge of escaping from custody after walking away from a hospital where she had been taken by El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies for treatment.
Kylee Renee Clifton, 21, of Placerville was arrested Sunday by deputies at Placerville’s Walmart store after she allegedly shoplifted while under the influence of drugs. She also is suspected of giving false information during her arrest.
Deputies booked her into El Dorado County jail, but on Tuesday she needed to be taken to Marshall Hospital for medical treatment. Her booking photo shows a severely swollen eye, but a sheriff’s news release does not say whether she got the injury during her arrest or in jail.
Clifton met the criteria to stay at the hospital unguarded. As with other prisoners who don’t constitute a danger to life or property, she signed a form saying she would face escape charges if she left the hospital without permission.
