Davis Senior High students -- by a wide margin -- outperformed their peers at every other Sacramento-area high school on the SAT during the 2012-2013 school year, according to new figures from the California Department of Education.
About four of every five Davis High 12th-graders took the SAT, a college entrance exam. They scored, on average, 1818 out of 2400. That average is better than 80 percent of students nationwide who take the exam.
Mira Loma High, where about half of 12th-graders took the SAT, did the next best with an average score of 1764. No other schools in the region averaged SAT scores above 1700.
High schools located in relatively wealthy areas tended to do better on the SAT than high schools with a large number of impoverished students.
