Another round of rock blasting for spillway construction near Folsom Dam will cause the temporary closure of Folsom Lake Crossing road starting next week.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a contractor will resume blasting operations Monday as part of an auxiliary spillway being constructed to lower flood risk. The operation will clear rock from the outlet of the spillway, creating a channel for water to flow from the spillway to the American River.
This final round of blasting will take place between 7 and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday until Sept. 30. When the blasting occurs, the bike trail and Folsom Lake Crossing road between Folsom-Auburn Road and Natoma Street will be closed to traffic.
Bike trail closure starts at 6:30 p.m. Road closure begins at 7 p.m. Both closures will last until blasting is complete.
