Sacramento International Airport will celebrate its 50th birthday this October, and is asking people to share special moments they have had with family and friends at the airport over the decades.

“Airport terminals are a place for special moments,” SMF officials write. “A mother sending her child off to college, a family welcoming home a soldier from overseas or a grandparent greeting a young grandchild’s embrace.

“There are heartfelt moments all day long, every day. SMF wants to hear about the community’s special moments and memories ahead of this year’s big celebration.”

You can share your story by emailing it and any photos or videos to smf50@saccounty.net, or you can post your story on social media using #SMF50.

The airport in turn will share those stories via social media and in an airport 50th year video.
