Memorial procession for slain deputy may cause traffic delays

The Roseville Police Department is warning motorists in the Roseville and Granite Bay areas of possible traffic delays early Thursday afternoon due to the procession for slain Sacramento County sheriff’s Deputy Robert French.

A memorial service for French, who was fatally shot outside an Auburn Boulevard motel Aug. 30, will be held at 11 a.m. at Bayside Adventure Church on Stanford Ranch Road, near Highway 65, in Roseville, and will be followed by a procession of law enforcement vehicles from Adventure Church to Bayside Church in Granite Bay. The procession is expected to occur between 1:15 and 2:15 p.m.

Rolling street closures will occur as the procession passes through the area, according to a Police Department news release.

There will be a 21-gun salute at the conclusion of the memorial service and a helicopter flyover.

Police advise people who want to watch the procession and pay their respects to park in a safe, legal area and to be careful not to block traffic. People should not park on an overpass.
