Tower Bridge work that was scheduled to begin next week has been delayed.
The city of West Sacramento announced Wednesday that Caltrans' inspections and repairs on the 83-year-old bridge won't begin until the middle of the summer. It was originally set for May 28-July 27.
"Caltrans plans to inspect and replace various aspects of the lifting mechanisms of the Tower Bridge beginning mid-summer," the release reads. "The project will require one-lane closures and full bridge closures periodically. Specific dates and times will be provided for lane closures as they become available."
Once work begins, drivers can use either Business 80 or the I Street Bridge to cross between the cities. I Street will also be available for pedestrians.
