Late-summer surge in gas prices has little impact in Sacramento area

The average retail price of gas in the Sacramento area is $2.53 a gallon, according to gas price tracker GasBuddy.com. That’s up only a penny from last week. As summer driving season comes to a close, there is relief that prices are not surging upward as it has in past years. The current average is nearly 50 cents lower than it was at this time last year.
