Teen driver spins out of control after failing to yield to semi-truck on Oklahoma highway
After an 18-year-old driver spun out of control in a crash on an Oklahoma highway, her dad shared the dash cam video that shows what happened “for training purposes,” police say.
The 24-second video, posted to Facebook by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, starts with the moments leading up to the three-vehicle crash on the night of May 10.
The video shows the driver closing in on the end of the merging lane of the highway while a semi truck was in the right lane.
Then, about 10 seconds in, the merging lane ends and the car starts cutting in front of the semi — but the two vehicles collide, the video shows.
“She failed to yield to a semi while merging onto the highway...,” Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Loud bangs can be heard as the two drivers hit each other and the 18-year-old goes “spinning out of control,” Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
She crashed into a lane divide before bouncing back and veering into a red car that was near the semi, the video shows.
Everyone who was involved in the crash on the Muskogee Turnpike is “OK,” KFOR reported.
