Nathan Bond, a 10-year-old home-schooled student from Fresno, performed the Declaration of Independence from memory Monday, June 27, 2016 in the rotunda of the California Capitol.

Nathan Bond didn’t know he was a memorization prodigy until he started homeschool a year ago.

After a challenge from his father, Bond memorized the entire Declaration of Independence in two months. He is one of the youngest people to do so, according to Guinness World Records officials.

“It’s hard, but I get a lot of good things out of it,” Bond said of working on his memorization challenges.

It took just over eight minutes for Bond to recite the document from memory for the cameras and small crowd gathered at the California Capitol.

Bond is also working on memorizing the United States Constitution. He has memorized the periodic table and hopes to become a constitutional lawyer one day.
