The city of Citrus Heights is accepting applications from residents interested in filling the City Council seat left vacant by the death of Councilman Mel Turner.
Applications are available from the City Clerk’s Office, 6360 Fountain Square Drive and at www.citrusheights.net. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. May 11.
Council members must be at least 18 years old, a resident and registered voter in the city. The person selected to fill the seat will serve through December 2018.
The City Council will schedule a special meeting to interview applicants, according to a city news release.

Turner, 67, died April 20 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was elected to the council in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.
