The new year started with a bang for state workers when Assemblyman Roger Hernández introduced a measure to add Native American Day to California’s state holiday calendar.
The West Covina Democrat wanted to replace the old Columbus Day with “a day provides the proper respect and recognition to our Native American nations.” The measure eventually stalled in committee, but news about the it was still The State Worker’s No. 2 blog post of 2013, Legislation adds a paid holiday to California government calendar.
