CalPERS’ open enrollment for 2016 health insurance started this week and runs through Oct. 9.
The fund, which administers medical care for 1.7 million active employees, retirees and their eligible dependents, offers a dozen plans for next year.

Currently-employed state workers, California State University employees and their dependents should contact the California Department of Human Resources for vision and dental options. The department has a new benefits calculator, that you should check out to see what those benefits will cost.
