He held up a sign proposing to his boyfriend on Disneyland’s Splash Mountain, but his mom told him not to post the photo to Facebook because she’s ashamed of him.

So he posted it to Reddit.com, and the internet overflowed with good wishes for the happy couple.

Reddit user eugenius310 posted the photo Tuesday, explaining that he proposed to his “beautiful and amazing” boyfriend Monday at Disneyland with the help of his nieces and nephews, who helped create the sign.

Eugenius310 wrote that his boyfriend had no idea of the impending proposal – he suggested they make “shocked” faces for the camera as they plunged down Splash Mountain. He then hid the sign before they exited the ride, and got down on one knee when his boyfriend saw their picture at the photo booth outside the ride.

“He said ‘yes,’ ” reported eugenius310.

He titled the post, “My mom told me not to post it to Facebook because she’s ashamed of me.”

Within hours, the Reddit post found its way to the site’s front page, and it had collected more than 1,200 comments by midday Wednesday. Commenters called the photo “cute” and “adorable,” and offered their congratulations. A few had less kind words for the poster’s “ashamed” mother, though.
