The California Highway Patrol will host a car seat checkup event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Walmart in Atwater, 800 Commerce Ave.
“Child safety-seat technicians will be available to properly set up and adjust your car seats for your child,” the CHP said in a news release. In addition, the technicians will provide safety information regarding updated child-restraint laws and proper child-restraint practices.
The event is free to the public. Residents are encouraged to bring children, along with safety seats. The “Child Safety Seat Checkup” event coincides with National Child Passenger Safety Week.
“The CHP encourages every parent, grandparent or guardian to always properly secure their children in the appropriate restraint device and to have continuous conversation with their children regarding the importance of always buckling up,” Capt. Sam Samra, commander of the CHP Merced office, said in the statement.
