A man suffered fatal injuries early Saturday morning after being shot in the 100 block of West 11th Street, near I Street, according to Merced police.
Few details have been released in the case, and the victim’s name hasn’t been released. No suspects are in custody.
Police responded to the shots fired call just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
Sgt. Jay Struble said he arrived at the scene and found the victim, described as a man in his mid-20s, lying unresponsive in an alleyway and suffering from gunshot wounds. Riggs Ambulance paramedics responded to the scene, and the victim was taken to a local hospital.

Struble said the victim was pronounced dead at 3:29 a.m. Saturday.
Police believe the case may be gang-related.
The homicide is the 10th reported this year in Merced, and the 21st in Merced County.
