Farmers market today

The original Merced Certified Farmers Market is from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays at the shopping center off Yosemite Avenue and Paulson Road, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at 19th and N streets. For more information, go to www.mercedcfm.com.

SPCA fundraiser

The Merced SPCA will have a pasta luncheon fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at DiCicco’s, 3360 Highway 59 in Merced. Tickets are $15. The meal is pasta, salad and a roll. The luncheon is dine-in or take-out. All proceeds benefit the Merced SPCA. Tickets are available at the Merced SPCA, A Blooming Affair Floral, Expressions of Love Floral, and Wash and Wag.

Church luncheon

Atwater Baptist Church will host a luncheon/dialogue at noon today with Whitney Bunker, executive director of Fresno’s City Without Orphans. Tea party meeting

The Merced-Atwater Tea Party meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, Fifth Street and Broadway Avenue. Barbara Levey, Merced County registrar of voters, will speak about the election process, and there will be a candidates forum for Atwater mayor and City Council seats up for election in November. All candidates are expected to participate.

Merced High homecoming

Merced High will hold its homecoming Friday. A carnival will be at the campus from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Bears will face Enochs High at 5:15 p.m. (junior varsity), and the varsity game will be at 7:30 p.m.

Genealogical Society meeting

Michael Gleason will talk about finding documents outside of government archives at the Merced County Genealogical Society meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Gracey Room of Merced County Library, 2100 O St. Open to all.

Free Christian concert

The Potter’s Place Inc. will hold an open house and free Christian concert Saturday at 644 W. Main St. in Merced. The open house will be from 3 to 4:45 p.m., and the concert is from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, call (209) 384-9547.

Bands against bullying

The Atwater Police Activities League will sponsor a free concert from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Ralston Park. Performers include Lighthouse for the Blind, featuring Polo Jones, Mike Vanderhule and Rob Tracy. Additional bands include Monsters Rock, High Voltage, Banshees and Contagious. Guest vocalists from the Atwater Music Room also are scheduled to perform

Day of Prayer for Peace

The United Methodist Church of Merced will host a Day of Prayer for Peace at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the courtyard of the church, 899 Yosemite Park Way (use the Laurel Street entrance). The international observance is an opportunity for people of faith to pray and act together to nurture lasting peace in the hearts of people. Golf tournament

The Merced chapter of the Mexican American Golf Association will hold its tournament at 9 a.m. Sunday at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands Ave., Atwater. Cost is $65 to register and includes green fees, cart, gift bag and burrito. Raffle tickets will be sold. Call before Sunday to register. Merced Elks golf tournament

The Merced Elks Lodge will hold a charity golf tournament Sept. 27 at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands Ave. Check-in at 11:30 a.m, lunch at noon and shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be a raffle, team prizes and closest-to-the-hole prizes.
