Federal prosecutors deny cover-up in Moonlight fire case

Federal prosecutors accuse Sierra Pacific Industries of “scandal mongering” and “unscrupulous” tactics in company’s efforts to overturn settlement in Moonlight fire case. The 2007 blaze scorched 65,000 acres in the Sierra Nevada and led to a $100 million settlement the timber company is trying to overturn amid allegations of corruption.
