A controlled burn planned for Tuesday on the American River Parkway has been canceled, the Sacramento Fire Department reports.
The controlled burn, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, will resume Wednesday morning, according to the department.
Controlled burns are planned through Friday on 28 acres south of Highway 160 and west of Interstate 80 – roughly between the area’s Costco store and the American River. If winds or air quality change, the burns will be canceled.
The fire department has worked over the past several months with county officials, park rangers, utility representatives and environmental groups to plan the controlled burn.
