A fire that started at the Elder Creek Transfer Station in south Sacramento Sunday evening has been contained.
Fire crews were called to the fire at about 7:30 p.m. Eventually 10 fire companies from Sacramento Fire Department and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department battled the blaze, said Chad Augustin, spokesman for Sacramento Metropolitan Fire.
No buildings were damaged in the fire.
One fire engine will remain at the site until the fire is completely extinguished. "It’s not uncommon to have crews out there for a few days," Augustin said.

Fire crews are called to the dump several times a year to fight fires, which becomes a challenge because of low water pressure at the site, Augustin said.
