The King fire in El Dorado County has grown 3,000 acres overnight, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Total acreage burned is at 80,944, according to Cal Fire spokesman Mike McMillan. Containment remains at 10 percent.
“The growth of about 3,000 acres from yesterday … we’re considering that moderate growth,” McMillan said.
An evacuation order for Pollock Pines has been lifted, though 2,819 residents from surrounding communities are still being affected by the blaze. About 12,000 structures remain threatened.

McMillan said crews would spend Saturday strengthening the containment lines.
“The flanks are nearly 20 miles long on each side,” he said. “There’s a lot of ground to cover.”
