A fire that started Friday morning in El Dorado County south of Shingle Springs was reported 50 percent contained, with 35 acres burned.
The Ranch fire was reported at 9:28 a.m. off French Creek Road. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported that the fire was in a remote area that was difficult to access.
Fire officials said crews had a line around the fire by 2:30 p.m. No structures were threatened, and no homes were evacuated.
Twelve engine and truck companies, three water tenders, five fire crews, a helicopter and a bulldozer were dispatched to fight the fire. Participating along with Cal Fire were firefighters from the Diamond Springs, El Dorado County, El Dorado Hills, Rescue and Georgetown fire departments and the U.S. Forest Service.
