A fire that started near Jackson and Excelsior roads, south of Kiefer Boulevard, burned approximately 150 acres before it was contained Wednesday afternoon.
The cause was determined to be a lawn mower, said Assistant Chief Patrick Ellis of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
The fire was reported about 1:20 p.m. and is believed to have started along Jackson Road, Ellis said. It burned along some fence lines, driven by winds that caused the flames to spread rapidly, he said. No homes were threatened.
A dozen engines, a helicopter and a bulldozer responded, Ellis said, and the fire was reported contained shortly after 2 p.m.
