Smoke in Sacramento area attributed to grass fire at Travis Air Force Base

Sacramento County’s Regional Fire Dispatch Center reports that smoke in the Sacramento area Monday evening is from a grass fire at Travis Air Force Base.

The dispatch center reported that it was receiving numerous calls about the smoke.

Airman Amber Carter with Travis Air Force Base’s public affairs office said the fire started about 6 p.m. near the south side of the base at the end of a runway. She said firefighters were on scene and no buildings or aircraft were threatened.
