A fire that began early Friday afternoon south of Colfax is reported fully contained with 6 acres burned.
The fire began about 12:23 p.m. near Interstate 80 and threatened homes.
California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection officials reported that what was dubbed the Tokayana fire was fully contained about 6 p.m..
The fire burned in the area of Tokayana Way and Jans Lane. Homes on Jans Lane were evacuated and the street closed to traffic.
Eleven Cal Fire engines, five hand crews, and two bulldozers were on scene, along with crews from the Placer Hills Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service. They were assisted by two helicopters and two air tankers.
