Fast action by firefighters Wednesday morning prevented further damage to an auto repair business on Franklin Boulevard.

Sacramento Fire Department crews were called about 6 a.m. Wednesday to Richard’s Stuttgart Motors, 6518 Franklin Blvd., where several cars outside the business were burning.

The fire also burned the interior of the Mercedes-Benz auto repair shop but crews quickly moved to stop the fire. Firefighters had to cut rollup doors to get into the building.

“The damage was minimal, all things considered,” said firefighter and spokesman Roberto Padilla. “Crews did a great job of stopping the spread of the fire. The bulk of the fire appears to be contained to the façade of the building with minor extension into the attic. They got knockdown in about 10 to 15 minutes.”

About 40 firefighters were called to the scene. No cause for the fire has been determined.
