Cal Fire is taking applications for seasonal firefighters.
Seasonal firefighters can work up to 9 months of the year at more than 350 fire stations, air bases and state forests throughout the state. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection is also accepting applications for the position of forestry aides, whose job it is to inspect defensible space around structures.
Cal Fire hires about 2,300 seasonal firefighters and forestry aides.
A seasonal firefighter is an entry-level position to the department’s firefighting ranks. Seasonal firefighters respond to wildfires and also repair and maintain equipment and tools.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Experience and education in fire suppression and control is a plus.
The filing deadline is January 31, 2016.
