Sheriff’s officials lifted mandatory evacuations for residents on the El Dorado County side of the Trailhead Fire late Monday.
Roadblocks will remain in place, permitting only residents with identification to enter the fire area. Area residents can visit the sheriff’s information website for updated information.
More than 2,000 firefighters continue to battle the Trailhead Fire in the rugged foothills of Placer and El Dorado counties. As of Monday evening, the fire had burned 5,444 acres and was 50 percent contained.
On the Placer County side of the fire, Todd Valley residents remained under an evacuation advisory. Cal Fire officials warn that the fire remains active and the evacuation order could be elevated to mandatory at any time.
