A bird hitting a power line, then falling to the ground sparked two small grass fires Friday morning in Rio Linda.
The fires near 16th and Q streets burned between a total of about 4 acres, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
An investigator called to the scene found the remains of a bird where the fire began, said Capt. Michelle Eidam, fire district spokeswoman.
Eidam added incidents like these happen each summer in dry, grassy areas where there are power lines.
