Sacramento County Water Agency customers will see their monthly water bill go up by 3.5 percent in July and another 3 percent a year later under rate hikes approved Tuesday.
The agency provides water service to 55,000 businesses and homes, primarily in the southern part of the county but also in Arden Arcade.
The county Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 for rate increases.
County Water Resources Department Director Michael Peterson told the board that the increases are needed to pay for equipment maintenance, fluoridation, conservation and regulatory work and capital improvements.
