Old Sacramento visitors walk streets freshly washed by latest storm
Sacramento is looking at a damp Thanksgiving week, but the rain isn’t expected to add up to much.
The National Weather Service predicts about a half inch of accumulation throughout the week as a string of wet weather systems move through the region, meteorologist Jason Clapp said. The rain is expected to taper off Monday and then resume Tuesday through Wednesday. After a short break on Thanksgiving, more wet weather is expected later Thursday and Friday, lingering through the weekend.
The expected rain totals could change as the systems get closer, but as of Sunday, they’re “not real strong systems, but enough to keep things moist,” Clapp said.
Since drops began to fall this weekend, Sacramento has seen .38 inches of rain, Clapp said.
Snow has been coming down in the mountains, dropping 8 inches in Kingvale and Chester. Snow is expected along with the rain this week, Clapp said, with snow starting at elevations of between 5,000 and 5,500 feet.
