If you’re already suffering from the 100-degree temperatures the last two days, don’t expect any relief anytime soon.

Downtown Sacramento reached 101 degrees Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature was just shy of the 103-degree record for June 17, which was set in 1963.

According to the seven-day forecast from the weather, Sunday’s projected high is 108 degrees, which would easily shatter the record of 105.

The National Weather Service is also issuing an excessive heat warning that is in effect Sunday through Wednesday.

Friday marked the start of a triple-digit heat wave that could extend for at least the next week, according to the National Weather Service. The heat wave comes a week after a period of cold weather in early June that brought snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains.

“It’s a pretty sudden change,” National Weather Service meteorologist Hannah Chandler told the Bee on Friday. “We definitely think its going to catch some people off guard. It’s going to be hot this weekend.”

A list of record-highs for the rest of the week can be found here.
