Here we go again.

The National Weather Service predicts a high of 107 degrees Sunday for Sacramento, with more high temperatures expected through the week – 106 on Monday, 103 on Tuesday, 99 on Wednesday, 102 on Thursday, 105 on Friday and 102 on Saturday.

Lows are expected to be in the 60s and 70s. The weather service also has issued an excessive heat warning Sunday and Monday.

The heat in downtown Sacramento’s not expected to break the record of 108 degrees set today in 1894, but if Executive Airport reaches the predicted high of 107 degrees it will beat a record of 103 degrees set today in 2001.

High temperatures also are forecast for today elsewhere in Northern and Central California, with 108 degrees expected in Redding, 109 in Red Bluff, 107 in Stockton and 106 in Modesto. Stockton and Modesto are expected to set heat records for today, with Red Bluff a possibility.

August’s no stranger to triple-digit heat in Northern California, but some residents are tiring of this summer’s succession of heat waves.
