Sunshine and warm temperatures in Sacramento forecast

The Sacramento region will get a good dose of sunshine this weekend, with clear skies and warm temperatures dominating the forecast.

Downtown Sacramento is expected to reach 80 degrees on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Dry weather will continue for much of next week. A system may bring a chance of rain and thunderstorms starting late Wednesday, said Courtney Obergfell, a weather service forecaster.

Here’s the seven-day forecast:

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. South southwest wind 6 to 11 mph.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. South wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. South southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 49.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 50.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 74.

Wednesday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 70.

Thursday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72.
