The hit-or-miss nature of Thursday’s late afternoon storm left some communities soaked, while others remained bone dry.

Thunderstorms rocked some residents of Folsom, Citrus Heights, Antelope and Roseville. In the wake of the lightning and rolling thunder were some impressive rainfall amounts in some neighborhoods.

Unofficial readings show 1.12 in Folsom, 0.25 in Fair Oaks, 0.84 in Orangevale, 0.32 in Rocklin, 1.34 in Antelope and a whopping 2.78 under one rain gauge in Roseville. However, neighborhoods not far away from communities where impressive readings were recorded got little or nothing in rainfall.

“If depended on if you were under one of those heavier cells whether you got a lot of rain,” said Mike Smith, National Weather Service forecaster.

The bulk of the rainfall was east of Sacramento. Sacramento got nothing in its rainfall bucket from the fast-moving storm.
