Cool mornings, pleasant daytime temperatures forecast for Sacramento area

While much of the country is being pounded by extreme weather, Sacramento remains cool and calm, and the National Weather Service is predicting an idyllic Memorial Day weekend in the area.

Cool morning temperatures in the low 50s will continue in Sacramento throughout this week, but daytime highs will warm into the 80s by Saturday. For Memorial Day, NWS forecasters expect a high near 82 amid mostly sunny conditions.

There is slight chance of showers on Thursday and Friday, with some precipitation expected in areas of the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Tuesday’s high will be 76 degrees, with a projected overnight low of 51. Isolated showers could pepper some foothill locales.

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 76 and southwest winds around 7 miles per hour.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51 and south-southeast winds around 6 to 8 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75 and south-southwest winds around 7 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52 and south winds around 7 to 9 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 74 and south-southwest winds around 7 mph. There is a 20 percent chance of showers.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53 and a 20 percent chance of showers.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 74 and a 20 percent chance of showers.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52 and a slight chance of showers.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.
