Warm weekend in Sacramento; near triple digits on Monday, Tuesday

Daytime highs are expected to be above normal today, leading to very hot weather early next week.

The high Friday is expected to reach around 89 degrees in Sacramento. The normal for June 5 is 85 degrees.

By Sunday, the afternoon high is expected to top out in the low 90s, but the temperature climb won’t stop there. The National Weather Service expects that Monday and Tuesday will be very hot for early June: 97 degrees.

The last time Redding and Modesto were 95 degrees or higher was on May 1. The last time Marysville, Stockton and Sacramento temperatures were 95 degrees or higher was Oct. 8.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming west southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 57. South wind 6 to 8 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. South wind around 7 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. South wind 7 to 9 mph.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 91. South southwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 59.

Monday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 97.
